Wednesday 27 November 2013

I'm back!!!

I have been away for such a long time I started to feel like I can’t come back. I now to my own blog how messed up is that?
I started making deals with myself when I have made something that is really really really good then I can come back, but that’s just silly so I'm back now.
My baby boy was born on the 19/8/13 a little early and he was not very well for a little bit but now I have a happy healthy bundle of joy and I couldn’t love him more. I can never describe how much I love my son.

I worked really hard copying a photo , I think it looks like him I'm so pleased with it. But then again who could draw/paint my baby boy and not make him super cute!

Yep that’s a sketch I did while he was breastfeeding sorry.

I'm thinking of doing a art journal flip soon. have a full catch up on most things i have been doing art wise (not that much). Its not all baby related mush i promise.....

Trying out new things this week.

First I have been trying to create a translucent face but I end up adding to many layers. I think I was fairly successful with is girl. She is a mixture of acrylic and coloured pencils something else I have been trying to do. My pen broke while I was doing the writing that’s why it look so sloppy but over all I'm happy with her.
This is just an experiment I did in the tiny art journal with masking fluid and a ink pad. Love the way this looks I really want to develop this further…..
Baby has been keeping me awake most night (just can’t get comfy and the back pain no one warns you about the back pain!!) so I have taken to creating at silly o’clock to distract me from how tired I am. Oh well least I'm finding some time for my art.

My little book of sanity.

I didn’t think I would use my tiny art journal much, I had doubts about working on such a small scale.
But in fact I use it a lot almost daily. Especially at the moment, I haven’t been feeling well or getting much sleep so it’s nice to have a little project to work on in bed when I can’t sleep or just when I have the TV on.

I fund I'm not s fussy if I try something and it doesn’t work, or ill try something and mentality pin it for a ‘real’ page when I feel better.

Who knew a tiny book could be so saving? Do you ever have that problem of wanting everything to be ‘good’ art? How do u fix it?

Small art journal and healing art.

I haven’t been feeling very well this week and had a lot of stress , so I  haven’t had time to do much art. Been sort of piling it in the past 48 hours to try and catch up.

I finished this painting this week it’s meant to be a self-portrait of me as a child. A bit of self-prescribed healing art.  I'm really pleased with how she came out.
I also have just finished this little art journal. This is for one of Jennibellie’s tutorials I want to have something small I can work on when the baby’s born I made this now to see if I like it. Put it in my bag and see if its gets used. Not sure if it’s to small…. Think I will finish the cover when its complete.

Meditation creating art.

For a life book class we had to try a guided mediation which felt a bit odd if I'm being honest.
It was about being grounded and the symbol that was used was stepping in to a tree and feeling strong and at one with the world.
After the mediation I made a quick sketch and of a face within a tree, when I got around to it I made tree lady!

She’s has been made using only two colours, back and pink,(bit of white gesso is hiding in there but o don’t think that counts).  That was also a prompt from life book I just smashed the two together.
I'm not overly found of the drawing/[painting but I did enjoy the whole process and it something I wouldn’t have come up with without the mediation so I might be looking in to trying a few more guided meditations.

The musical eye and the funky birds.

Some art offering I for you this week.
This eye is painted on left over Christmas paper that’s been begging me to do something with it since January.
I just needed some practice on painting and drawing eyes(i still need way more as you can see) and this happened. I'm not sure if I should fill in the whites of the eye or if I like it as is. I think I like it as is.

Lifebook weeks for quirky birds, I'm not overly fond of them maybe I should try again. I have seen what other people have made with the same class and I'm jealous to say the least.

That’s my art desk in the background looking nice and clean J

Wednesday 24 April 2013

A family portrait and a few WIP.

So I still love the Kat McBride technique of painting faces. I have two to share I  think they are both still WIP. I'm don’t want to spoil them anymore.
Step away from the paint.
This girls hair got a bit out of control to say the least. Its meant to look like its blowing back in the wind, but instead it looks like she is a bit of a hairspray addict.  Needs work.

This is my attempt at a folk art angel, it was a clean-up back round form some gelli prints and originally I wanted the background to show threw the painting but it didn’t work out like that now she has random bits of colour on her face. Again needs more work.

And then there is this family as currently is (although I hope I'm not that big yet!) after I did the wedding picture last week I knew I wanted to paint us. I don’t this its as good as the first one but I do love it. Mummy Daddy and bump. Oh and in case you’re interested we found out we are having a boy!! Baby names needed!!

Wednesday 17 April 2013

wedding gift!

Two wonderful friends of mine got married recently. It was amazing. As they have lived together before the wedding there was no point in buying them the normal wedding gifts, toaster, towel set or the like.

So we gave them a bit of cash for their honeymoon and I did a painting of them. I have never given my art to anyone before ever. I was so worried I was working on it until the last minute then drying it frantically with a hair dryer before we went.

This you might recognise is a life book class I really enjoyed it and thought it suited the couple well.

This is just a photo of them so you can see how it kinda looks like them….if you squint.

Tuesday 9 April 2013

I'm an art making machine.

So this week I have had really good health 90% of the time so I have been able to make art almost every day!!
I'm so happy. Not all of the work I have produced has been a masterpiece, but I do feel as though I have progressed leaps and bounds this week.
I highly recommend Kat McBride as a teacher.
Here is some of the work I have done this week.
Both of these are ‘homework’ from my life book class. The painting over a photo was a lot harder then I thought I just couldn’t get it to look right. (It’s a self-portrait from one of my wedding day pics in case you’re interested)

The heart connections class I made a lot of mess and I'm not happy with the outcome. Still fun trying.

This is a quick purple face that I did I was quite happy with it at the end of last week, but now I see all the flaws. But never mind because……..

I made this! Yes me! With a litter guidance from Kat McBride face painting class. I'm so proud of it, yes she is a WIP needs better hair and her eyes look like they have no lashes, But I'm still super happy with her. She didn’t even take that long for a masterpiece (about two hours the last painting I loves this much took 5 hours). Love love love it!

Pregnancy is a big thing.....

So I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately with the whole pregnancy. I feel like both other people and myself are second guessing everything I do or plan for this baby. That’s what this page is about.

It’s going to be a big change and it will be hard but I need to believe that I can do this.

It’s also my homework for Lifebook 2013 (still way behind) Unstumpification with Jane Davenport.  Your meant to use magazine images to copy from but the only magazines I had about where pregnancy ones.

I really like the way this turned out its not perfect by any means but it’s good for me.

Wednesday 20 March 2013

Spring has not sprung.

We are still getting snow! I hate the cold wet winter give me sunshine and yellow flowers please.

I'm still behind on Lifebook, trying to catch up this is one of the classes I did this week. Didn’t turn out like I hoped but its ok. Anyone else as behind as me?

And this is just a doodle I did in front of the TV. I left the books ribbon in the scan but never mind. Also the pens I used are rubbish.

Wednesday 6 March 2013

Finally finished!!

I have been working on this for weeks! I don’t know why I don’t think I was enjoying this class (Game Piece & Game Board with Kelly Hoernig lifebook2013)
But oddly enough I like it now I have finished.
The cards have my goals on for the year. Makes them feel more real now. I love how art dose that. Get out of head get on to something real.

This is just a another whimsy girl. I hate the hair.

Thursday 28 February 2013

Just scraping by.

Only having a few minutes here and there where I feel like I can do art. 5 to 10 minutes is better than nothing I suppose.
This is a class from life book  scales of light. In case you can’t tell that is a drawing of my baby in the corner based on ultrasound pictures (see last week). I don’t think this is ‘good’ but I love it. Was fun and I love that baby made it in to my art.

And this is just a 10 minute doodle in front of the TV. On tissue paper just some thing other then plain paper.

Friday 15 February 2013

The big secret revealed …..

Yeah so the big news is I'm pregnant with are first child. Bit of a shock but me and my husband couldn’t be happier.

This sometimes means that I get tired early in the evening and that’s why I haven’t been making much art. I have been told that I should stop being so sick and tired in the next few weeks so hopefully I will get back on top of things soon.

Here is my attempt a whimsy.  She’s painted on cheap drawing paper that caused a whole load of problems even after a healthy helping of gesso. Note to self stop being so cheap.

Tuesday 5 February 2013

An unexpected, unwanted brake.

I haven’t been up too much art lately, can’t really talk about why yet but hopefully I’ll be able to tell you more in 2 weeks’ time. Exited!

Any way this means that I'm really far behind in my art classes and projects.

This is week 2 from lifebook. I don’t like it at all but at least its pushing me to try new things.

Week 3 life book the tin foil flowers  again I'm not found of this page but it’s something new to try.

And this is some homework for a ‘class’ called angles in Architecture. This class feels a lot more like a project then a class but so far I'm enjoying it.
Now if you will excuse me I have a lot of neglected art blogs to catch up on. Will make more of an effort to post soon.

Monday 14 January 2013

My best painting ever!!!

So I haven’t had much time this week to do art, well I have had time but I have been napping instead. Bad me.
But what I have made this week I love love love!  I think she is the best painting I have ever done! So pleased with her.
As you know I'm doing lifebook this year but this is from another class tam offers, art heart and healing  and its a free one!!!  So I thought ok ill have a go and I'm so glad I did. Did I mention how much I like this painting?
Haven’t got much else to say… I hope everyone is still having a grate 2013.

Saturday 5 January 2013

Best 2013 ever!

So, so far this year (5 days in) 2013 has been brilliant. Way better than 2012. So glad to have a fresh start.

I told you in my last post I was starting Lifebook 2013. I'm really enjoying it. We had a warm up project then a main project this week ‘celebration & journey ‘.  Where we were meant to make some art to represent are journey through 2013. We are supposed to write on are resolutions but also what we have to empower us now.

I decided to do a hot air balloon and sky lanterns as on New Year’s Eve we write are hopes or wishes for the year (we had amazing news on New Year’s Day which fulfilled one of our wishes, unable to tell you right now but I will as soon as I can) I don’t think I want to write on it. What do you think?

I have had lots of time this week to do art so I have picked my favourites for my blog.
This was inspired by a long walk I went on with my husband we got lost in the woods and then we saw a deer being chased by a tiny dog. It was worth getting lost and dirty. (my husband thinks this looks more like a dog….I think he might be right)

This was an attempt at abstract flowers. I don’t  really like it but I did have a lot of fun getting messy on this page.
This is a cave I think…it’s just an abstract place some place safe.

I hope everyone is having an amazing 2013, happy New Year!!
